People\u2019s Bank, which introduced the tradition of doing business with the bank, is bringing new meaning to the Sinhala and Tamil Avurudu \u2018Ganu Denu\u2019 customs, to offer gifts to all those who take part in traditional Avurudu \u2018Ganu Denu\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Deputy General Manager (Retail Banking & Overseas Customer Services) Aruni Liyanagunawardana stated; People\u2019s Bank, known for introducing numerous innovations to Sri Lanka\u2019s banking sector, was the first to introduce the concept of celebrating the Sinhala and Tamil New Year with a bank in 1973.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since its inception, this programme has been conducted annually and has evolved into a highly anticipated tradition, offering attractive gifts to customers who engage in New Year transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The primary objective of this initiative is to encourage a savings culture rooted in tradition, thereby contributing meaningfully to national economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In line with the festive season, children maintaining savings accounts under \u2018Sisu Udana\u2019 and \u2018Isuru Udana\u2019 will also receive special gifts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under this year\u2019s \u2018Ganu Denu\u2019 programme, customers will receive a Glass Water Bottle for deposits of Rs. 25,000\/- and a whistling kettle for deposits of Rs. 50,000\/-.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, children depositing between Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 4,999 into existing or newly opened \u2018Sisu Udana\u2019 and \u2018Isuru Udana\u2019 accounts will receive a pencil case. Deposits ranging from Rs. 5,000\/- to Rs. 9,999\/- will be rewarded with a ToTe bag, while deposits of Rs. 10,000\/- or more will qualify for a backpack. This promotional offer is valid from April 1-30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In keeping with Avurudu traditions, commemorative gifts will be presented for each transaction and customers will be warmly treated with milk rice and traditional Avurudu sweets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
