The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development has introduced two new digital initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, transparency and productivity within the public service as part of the Government\u2019s ongoing digital transformation agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An awareness programme on a new online document management system was held on 28 July at the Ministry\u2019s Auditorium to familiarize officials with the process of managing all letters received by post and hand delivery through a digital platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme was conducted both physically and online for Directors General of departments located within the Treasury premises, their Personal Assistants, and officers attached to the Ministry\u2019s Administration and Postal Divisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Ministry, the new system is expected to enhance the efficiency and productivity of officers by enabling authorised parties to access correspondence immediately upon uploading, thereby eliminating delays in document circulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ministry also conducted an introductory training programme on an online meeting hall reservation system for officers representing all departments within the Treasury premises. The training was delivered through both physical and virtual sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The online reservation platform is expected to streamline the booking of meeting halls, improve access to information on scheduled meetings across divisions, and reduce the use of paper-based documentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both programmes formed part of the second day\u2019s activities under the Ministry\u2019s short-term initiatives organised in line with National Integrity Week, which is being observed under the national campaign, \u201cA Culture of Integrity \u2013 A Clean Sri Lanka.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ministry said the initiatives support its broader objective of promoting an ethical, digitally enabled public service while advancing financial literacy, digital transformation, entrepreneurship and integrity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
