The initiative addresses long-standing grid instability concerns, providing uninterrupted power for the faculty\u2019s computer laboratories and high-demand artificial intelligence (AI) servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"24043\" src=\"https:\/\/corpcom.lk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/3-1-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24043\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"24044\" src=\"https:\/\/corpcom.lk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/2-1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24044\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Conventional backup UPS systems provided only a few minutes of power during grid outages, while traditional diesel generators faced operational risks, high costs, and fuel availability constraints. Under the vision of Prof. Lilantha Samaranayake \u2013 Dean, Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, to foster sustainable engineering solutions, the project successfully bridges critical backup power needs with clean energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SLAM Power Solutions executed the project by retrofitting an existing, non-functional 60 kW solar PV system installed more than 10 years ago and integrating a 100 kWh BSLBATT Lithium-Ion battery storage system.
