The programme highlighted the transformative role of <strong>digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI)<\/strong> in reshaping the tourism sector, enhancing visitor experiences, and creating new opportunities for Sri Lanka\u2019s tourism industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tourism Start-Up Competition 2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A key highlight of the celebration was the <strong>Tourism Start-Up Competition 2026<\/strong>, conducted under the theme <em>\u201cAI-Driven Innovation for the Future of Tourism.\u201d<\/em> The competition attracted <strong>52 applications<\/strong> across two categories \u2013 <strong>Tertiary Level<\/strong> and <strong>Commercial Level<\/strong> \u2013 showcasing the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of Sri Lanka\u2019s youth and tourism innovators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following a rigorous evaluation process, <strong>25 applications<\/strong> were shortlisted for the final stage, where participants presented their AI-powered tourism solutions before an expert panel. Ultimately, <strong>six winners from each category<\/strong> were selected, recognizing their innovative contributions to the future of tourism. These winners were formally honoured during today\u2019s celebration, providing them with a platform to showcase their solutions and inspire greater innovation within the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Driving Digital Transformation in Tourism<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The National Celebration underscored the importance of fostering an <strong>innovation-driven ecosystem<\/strong> that enables tourism stakeholders to adopt emerging technologies.
