5S Certification 10th Anniversary Forum and Certificate Awarding Ceremony – 2026 ends on high note

The 5S Certification 10th Anniversary Forum and Certificate Awarding Ceremony – 2026 was successfully held on July 9 2026 at the Galle Face Hotel, Colombo, marking a significant milestone in Sri Lanka’s productivity and quality journey.

The event was honoured by the presence of Chief Guests Sunil Handunnetti Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, J. M. Thilaka Jayasundara Secretary, Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development. The event was conducted under the strategic leadership of W. M. D. Suranga Gunarathne, Director General of the National Productivity Secretariat, with the guidance of Niranja S. Jayakodi, Director of the National Productivity Secretariat, and the leadership of Pranidhi P. A. Bopagamage, Deputy Director of the National Productivity Secretariat.

A significant number of private sector organizations, government & semi government organizations participated in this prestigious event, demonstrating their continued commitment to workplace organization, productivity improvement, quality enhancement, and a culture of continuous improvement through the implementation of 5S practices.

The 5S Certification Programme was initiated in 2016 under the guidance of J. M. Thilaka Jayasundara. The programme was conceptualized and founded by W. M. D. Suranga Gunarathne with the vision of establishing a nationally recognized certification framework to promote sustainable productivity and organizational excellence across Sri Lanka. In 2026, the programme completed 10 successful years, celebrating a decade of remarkable achievements, organizational transformation, and commitment to excellence.

The Certificate Awarding Ceremony recently certified organizations that successfully demonstrated their commitment to implementing and sustaining 5S principles and fostering a productive, efficient, safe, and continuously improving workplace culture.

This significant milestone reflects the collective dedication and valuable contributions of organizational leaders, 5S practitioners, auditors, assessors, trainers, participating organizations, and all stakeholders who have supported the continued success and growth of the 5S Certification Programme.
