‘People’s Remittance – Doodaru Pranama’ promotional campaign rewards children of overseas workers

People’s Bank has launched the ‘People’s Remittance – Doodaru Pranama’ Promotional Campaign in celebration of World Children’s Day, offering children of Sri Lankan Expatriates an opportunity to win attractive prizes while encouraging families to build a secure financial future for their children.

Under this special promotion campaign, children who open an Ethera Udana Personal Foreign Currency Minors’ Savings Account and receive remittances through People’s Remittance during the period from October 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026 will be eligible to enter the draw and win an Ethera Udana School stationery pack valued.

The initiative forms part of People’s Bank’s continuing efforts to recognise the valuable contribution of Sri Lankan migrant workers and encourage them to channel their hard-earned foreign exchange towards the financial security, education and future aspirations of their children.

Adding further value to the People’s Remittance experience, customers who receive workers’ remittances directly to People’s Bank will have opportunities to win weekly cash prizes through the ‘People’s Remittance Vaasi Kotiya 2026’ draw. The ‘Dolosmahe Vaasi Chakraya’ also provides customers with multiple opportunities to win prizes throughout the year, with the chances of winning increasing with the amount of remittances received.

The Ethera Udana Personal Foreign Currency Minors’ Savings Account was introduced by People’s Bank to enable parents working overseas to save in foreign currency for their children’s education, future investments and important milestones in life. The account offers a range of benefits, including additional interest rates based on the increasing account balance, applicable exemptions towards the child’s first airline ticket when travelling overseas for higher education.

Account holders can also receive cash prizes for outstanding results at the G.C.E. O/L and A/L Examinations, including London examinations, while eligible children can benefit from special insurance coverage.

Other benefits include exemption from bank commissions on TT payments for educational purposes, exemption from bank commissions on balance confirmation letters and access to People’s Wisdom loan facilities for educational purposes, together with a host of other privileges.
