NCCSL to host seminar on ‘Data Protection & Privacy: Safeguarding Businesses in the Digital Era’

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) will host a timely and insightful seminar titled ‘Data Protection & Privacy: Safeguarding Businesses in the Digital Era’ on June 18, at the National Chamber of Commerce Auditorium, Colombo 10.

with the objective of enhancing awareness among businesses on emerging cyber risks, data protection requirements, and digital security best practices.

As organisations increasingly rely on digital platforms, online transactions, cloud-based systems and data-driven operations, protecting sensitive information and ensuring privacy compliance have become critical priorities for organisations of all sizes.

The seminar aims to provide practical knowledge and strategic guidance to help businesses strengthen resilience against cyber threats while fostering trust and confidence among customers and stakeholders.

The content will be beneficial to any organisation/SMEs that collects, stores, or processes personal data and requires a practical understanding of Sri Lanka’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) compliance requirements ahead of stricter enforcement.

The seminar will feature Jayantha Fernando Keynote Speaker, Digital Law Specialist, Partner at Heritage Partners and Chair of the PDPA Drafting Committee. Chanuka Wattegama Guest Speaker, Chief Executive Officer Acting of the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA). D imuth Atapattu, Director General of the Data Protection Authority and Chamindi Ekanayake, Head of Department, Intellectual Property, at Nithya Partners.

This forum will bring together leading experts to explore practical compliance strategies, strengthen data governance practices and demonstrate how privacy can be leveraged as a competitive advantage for businesses operating in an increasingly digital economy.

Through this initiative, the National Chamber continues its commitment to supporting the business community by promoting awareness, preparedness and responsible digital transformation in an increasingly interconnected business environment.

The session will conclude with a panel discussion featuring all speakers, providing participants with the opportunity to engage directly with leading experts in data protection law, policy and compliance.
